Lions Win Tilt From Rotarians
The Lions club softballers, playing under Baseball Commissioner Sam Benidettino, got sweet revenge from the old men of Rotary Tuesday night in a softball fiasco that was mostly notable for the long periods of "time out" called while Benidettino and Coon Toscano, master-mind of the Rotarians, argued out the details of the game as it progressed. The score, something like 17 to 12, would have been even worse had not Toscano called in his sterling relief hurler, Judge Germino, to check the stampede of Lion runs that had started when Toscano himself was on the mound.
The game provided in comedy what it lacked in ability, and the large crowd in attendance was tolerant in its somewhat raucous applause.
Members of both clubs gathered at the fire house club rooms after the game for a talk fest and cooling refreshments.
