Lions Feast At Rotary Expense
Members of the Lions Club get a free barbecued steak dinner next Tuesday night at Fairgrounds Park at the expense of the local Rotary Club.
The reason: Some weeks ago Rotarian Paul Benz and a few coherts, still stinging from a bowling tournament defeat last year, challenged the Lions to a repeat contest, which was duly staged and resulted in a complete rout for the challenging Rotarians. The final tally was something like 12,367 pins for the Lion aggregation to 11,886 pins for the faltering Rotarians. This despite the fact the Lions graciously threw in every "scrub" player in the club, including their portly well leader, one Anthony LoBue. The previous year the Lions sneaked out a 13 pin victory and the Rotarians unwillingly thought they might get revenge in a repeat encounter.
Rotarians Joe Silva is in charge of the dinner committee. Members of both clubs are invited to bring guests—at a moderate cover charge.
