Firebaugh And Los Banos Rotary Clubs Tie In Golf
Firebaugh and Los Banos Rotary Clubs tied Sunday at the West Side Golf Club in a Tri-City Club tournament, scoring tour wins each, while the Dos Palos Club trailed with but one wined in the threesomes players.
Don Bourne was the lone winner from Dos Palos.
Winners of matches included Ted Parker, Ralph Stone, Marion Guyett and Dick Lehmann of Firebaugh, John Nickel, Wade Galloway, P. R. Roberts and Les Spindt of Los Banos.
Although the number entrants from Dos Palos and Los Banos was a little disappointing the Firebaugh contingent had three golfers who were unable to take part in the competition, Ken Haslam, Narval Davis and Louie Miller, but the trio participated in the ball sweepstakes play.
Low net for the sweepstakes was Ted Parker's 67. Others finishing in the first ten were Wade Galloway, Marion Guyett and Carson Angle, 68; Dick Lehmann, 70; Louie Castellucci, Les Spindt, Ed Eggleston, Don Bourne and Narval Davis, all 71.
The Inter-club meet, scheduled for Sunday, April 1, between the West Side Golf Club and Modesto, will be played at the latter place Sunday, April 15, according to Don Fry, West Side pro.
The change in date is not really a postponement, but rather the result of a misunderstanding, according to Fry, the local club thinking that the date was set for last Sunday and the Modesto club understanding that it was to be April 15 and scheduling other activities accordingly.
