F.F.A. President Addresses Rotary

Allen Clark, senior student at Dos Palos High School and president of the Dos Palos Chapter of the FFA brought to members of the Los Banos Rotary Club Tuesday noon a message on California's water problems, entitled "California's Wasted Water."

The very comprehensive talk on water problems of the state was previously prepared by Clark for competition in a statewide F.F.A. speaking contest, in which he won the local, sectional and regional contests, and placed second in the state finals.

Clark reviewed the increasing water needs of the state, pointed out that the problem is not only one of supply but of quality; and urged that presently divergent factions units soon on an overall firm plan for ultimate complete development of this, the state's most important natural resource.

He also reviewed and spoke favorably on the Reber Plan, which would provide an earthen dam across the bay to exclude the salt waters from the ocean and preserve for irrigation and domestic needs a larger portion of the 8 million acre-feet plus of water that now wastes into the sea. He also pointed out advantages of the Wiley Plan, which would bring water from the northern part of the state southward on the east side of the valley.

Clark was introduced to the club by local Rotarians M. D. Wheat.
Rotary President Ned Dickson announced that the club would host all junior exhibitors at the Spring Fair at a luncheon in the Fairgrounds Park Saturday noon; and that there will be no regular club luncheon on the Tuesday following the celebration period.
